How to Score 40+ in Business Mathematics (CA Foundation Paper 3)
Paper 3: Quantitative Aptitude is the most feared paper in the CA Foundation course due to the math syllabus and negative markings (-0.25). However, you don't need to be a math genius to pass. Let's design a strategic study plan to secure a safe 40+ score.
The Three-Pillar Strategy 📊
1. Logical Reasoning (20 Marks)
This is your highest scoring section. Target at least 15-18 marks here. Chapters like Direction Tests, Blood Relations, and Seating Arrangements are completely visual and logical.
2. Statistics (40 Marks)
Statistics is easier than pure mathematics. Focus on Measures of Central Tendency & Dispersion (10-12 marks), Index Numbers (5-6 marks), and Probability (6-8 marks).
3. Selected Math Chapters (40 Marks)
Do not attempt the entire math syllabus if you are struggling. Master Time Value of Money (12-14 marks), Ratio & Proportion (4-5 marks), and Equations (3-4 marks).
Paper Speed & Negative Marking Control
Always solve the Logical Reasoning and descriptive Statistics questions first. Do not guess answers on which you are uncertain. Because of negative marking, 10 incorrect guesses cost you 2.5 marks, which can make the difference between passing and failing!
